Research Fellow, Central & South America

The Research Fellow for Central and South America plays a critical role in Equanimity Foundation’s (EQF) initiatives in Central and South America. They will be responsible for supporting EQF tasks related to research and grant writing. The Research Fellow for Central and South America will be responsible for conducting background research and literature reviews, developing creative initiatives in  the global development space, and managing a database of centers and initiatives related to Central and South America. The  Research Fellow for Central and South America  will also assist in writing and editing content, tracking news related to Central and South America, and providing logistical support during meetings. This role falls under the EQF Global Fellows Program.

Detailed Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Conduct background research, literature reviews, data compilation and analysis for various research projects, reports, and presentations

  • Manage a database of centers, initiatives, and/or scholars in Central and South America 

  • Work with the Research team to develop creative initiatives in the region

  • Work with the Fundraising team to prepare high-impact, well-researched proposals and reports relating to Central and South America

  • Assist with writing and editing content, including research memos and briefs, blog posts, book chapters, and other publications, as needed

  • Track news reports that are relevant, including scanning Central and South American news media and providing synopses

  • Assist in logistical support for meetings

Skills Required

  • Demonstrated interest in Central and South American issues

  • Strong writing, research, proofreading, and editing skills

  • Some previous research experience

  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required

  • Fluency in Quechua, Aymara, Guarani, Nahuatl, Quiche, Cakchiquel, Kekchi, Mam, Garifuna, Portuguese, or Creole are preferred but not required

  • Graduate student or recent graduate with a concentration in international relations, politics, Latin America studies, languages, political science, history, or a related field

  • Accurately prepares written materials that are coherent, grammatically correct, effective and professional

  • Listens to others and accepts input from team members
